If you are often working with remote computers via RDP you are well aware that once you are in a remote session there is no way to use USB devices connected to your local computer.
You will only need to install USB Network Gate on your local computer, where USB device is physically connected, and at the remote computer, which you will be accessing over RDP. Share USB device on your local machine and whenever you are in remote session with the one you also installed USB Network Gate at, you will easily use your local USB device there, just as if it was plugged into that machine.
USB Network Gate can also set the client (remote) machine to find and connect to share USB devices automatically.
This solution also works great for thin clients. Using USB Network Gate you can share USB devices plugged into local machine (thin client) and then access them from the remote desktop.
The software provides much needed exclusivity in a multi-user terminal servers environment. USB Network Gate lets you assign a USB device to a specific user in an RDP session and no one else can use it at that time. Since version 7.0 USB Network Gate supports ICA protocol by Citrix.
USB Network Gate for Linux supports native RemoteFX USB Redirection (MS-RDPEUSB), therefore you can redirect shared devices from your local computer with Linux OS to a remote computer with Windows OS without even having to install USB Network Gate on the latter.
*If shared USB devices are supported by RemoteFX USB Redirection. Otherwise you'll need to install USB Network Gate on Windows client.
Question: What challenges made you search for this kind of software?
Aaron: I needed to use a USB barcode scanner over terminal services. I also need to run the program that receives the input data from this scanner on a remote server. This scheme is perfect when used locally, but when connecting to a TS server the scanner becomes unavailable.
Question: Please, describe how you are using our product now
Aaron: It was amazing! I installed USB Network Gate on a local workstation with barcode scanner plugged in. Then I shared the scanner. I also connected to remote server via RDP and installed USB Network Gate there. And after that I could start using barcode scanner on a remote server right away!
Question: How did you benefit from using Eltima solution?
Aaron: This is absolutely benefitting software! I would have hardly solved the issue that fast without USB Network Gate. All remote applications recognize the barcode scanner and I can fully work with it in a remote session. You tech support is a great quality too, provided me with timely and helpful responses!
